Lois L. Brunkow, 91, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday April 21, 2019, at The Bluffs in Lake City.
Lois was born Oct. 26, 1927, to Louis F. and Lucella (Lange) Eggenberger in Plum Creek Valley, Wis. Her family moved to Lake City, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946.
On Oct. 21, 1946, she married Merlyn Brunkow at the United Methodist Church in Lake City. The couple made their home in Lake City, where Lois worked as a lyno typesetter for the Lake City Paper and later worked as a seamstress for B.W. Harris Company for 24 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a Gold Star Mother. She enjoyed riding bike, rollerblading, arts and crafts, gardening and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
She is survived by her daughter, Merilyn (Bruce) Walters of Oronoco; son, Neil (Carol) Brunkow of Lake City; six grandchildren, Erik (Tracy) Brunkow, Marsha Lindquist, Dawn (Kurt) Schnell, Yvonne Slonaker, Joseph (Kelly) Jensen, Jennifer (Mike) Gutting; 15 great-grandchildren, Emma, Ethen and Marlena Brunkow, Logan Lansing, Veronica Lindquist, Josie, Grant and Ellie Schnell, Morgan Slonaker, Kelsey Steinmetz, Jack, William and Alex Jensen, Grace and Andrew Gutting; one great-great-grandchild, Kaiden Steinmetz; and a brother, Chuck (Jill) Eggenberger of Appleton, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn; two sisters, Helen Burgess and Marie Mickow; three brothers, Earl, Robert and Emery Eggenberger; and a great-granddaughter, Matilyn Ann Brunkow.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the United Methodist Church in Lake City, with Pastor Phil Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
