Lorie Lynn Alwes (Jensen), 59, of Kasson, died in a motor vehicle accident Monday, Sept. 2, on her way to work in Mantorville.

Lorie Jensen was born to Richard and Alpha (Bungum) Jensen on Nov. 29, 1959, at Misawa Air Force Base in Japan. She attended grade school in Bellevue, Neb., and Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. Lorie graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1978. She went on to graduate from RCTC in Rochester as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She married Kevin Alwes at South Zumbro Lutheran Church; they were later divorced.

Lorie was an avid flower gardener and kept her home decorated for each season. She enjoyed watching the birds at her parents' home. Lorie loved to crochet and was known for making many prayer shawls for church.

Lorie is survived by her two sons, Matthew of Mantorville and Brian of Kasson; her mother, Alpha Jensen of Kasson; brother, Ronald R. Jensen of Cresco, Iowa; and sister, LuAnn Hrtanek of Mantorville. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Jensen; brother, Robert D. Jensen of Winona; and grandparents, Bennie and Anna Bungum and Peter and Opal Jensen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 120th Ave. SW, Kasson, with Pastor Peter Wyttenbach officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to them for distribution according to their wishes.
