Mr. Rucker, age 86, of Rochester, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, of cancer at Mayo Clinic Hospice at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Louie was born on Sept. 21, 1933, to Louis and Amelia Rucker. On April 6, 1955, he married Marlene M. Ferris in Rochester. Louie worked as a Urology Technician for Mayo Clinic until he retired in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; two sons, Randy (Patty) Rucker of Mantorville, and Jeff Rucker of Rochester; four grandchildren, Chad (Cara), Nathan (Megan), Christopher (Dana), and Jayme; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly (Dale) Cooper of Rochester. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Louie was a cheerful and hard-working man who loved watching the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings and playing cards with friends. He was an active member of Evangel United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed ushering and folding bulletins each week. Louie always put the needs of others before his own and was quick to offer his help to his many friends and family members.

The funeral for Louis J. "Louie" Rucker will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester with Pastor Susie O'Connell officiating. A private burial for the immediate family will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
