Lynn M. Lagerstedt, age 76, of Adams, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital — Methodist Campus in Rochester.

Lynn Merlon was born April 7, 1942, in Gaylord, Minn., to Merlon and Jennie (Maxwell) Lagerstedt. He was baptized and confirmed in the Augustana Lutheran Church of Gibbon. Lynn grew up on the family farm in Gibbon, and in his youth, he and his family were very active in 4-H. He graduated with the Class of 1960 from Gibbon High School, and continued his education at the University of Minnesota — St. Paul Campus, where he was active in the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

In 1964, he earned his bachelor of science degree in agricultural education, and began his teaching career. Lynn was united in marriage to Carol Lee Osmundson on Easter Day, March 26, 1967, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church. During his teaching career he taught at Adams High School, Elkton High School and Southland High School.

In 1976, he left teaching to start his own business, Farm-Tech in Adams. Lynn was truly a pioneer in the Ag service industry. Not one to “retire,” he was able to slow down with his son, Dave, and daughter, Jaymie, taking over the family business.

Lynn treasured time spent with his family. His grandchildren will remember him for making them breakfast every day before school, with “Waffle Wednesdays” being their favorite!

Lynn was active in the Adams Community as a member of the Adams Lions Club, and former member of the Adams City Council. He was a longtime member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church, where he served as chairman of the building committee during the construction of the new church. Lynn was an avid Minnesota Gophers fan and loved the saying “Row the Boat.”

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol; children, Dave (Susan) Lagerstedt and Jaymie (Derek) Poshusta, all of Adams; grandchildren, Nic (Kelsey) Poshusta, Kelsey Poshusta, Kylie Poshusta, Bradley Lagerstedt, and Justin Lagerstedt; siblings, Lila Sillerud of Canby, Eileen (Fred) Knudsen of Owatonna, Gary (Carla) Lagerstedt of Spicer, Jon Lagerstedt of Gibbon, and Mark Lagerstedt of Woodbury; sisters-in-law, Linda (Don) Crace of Kirkland, Wash., Susan (Steve) Holmquist of St. Cloud, and Kathie (Ron) Wolff of Minnetonka; brother-in-law, Jon (Lori) Osmundson of Owatonna; and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlon and Jennie Lagerstedt; grandson, Tyler Poshusta; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Lois Osmundson; and brother-in-law, Cliff Sillerud.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Little Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Adams Funeral Home and will continue one hour before the service Thursday at church.
