Delmer Don Kiefer, 63, of Kasson, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.
Delmer was born on Feb. 13, 1956, to Loren and Marion (O'Brien) Kiefer in Owatonna. He graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1974. After graduating, he worked for McNeilus Steel and later for Midland Construction in Dodge Center. He returned to work for McNeilus Steel in 1981 and continued to work there until his death. He married Kimberly Baker on April 17, 1982, at United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. Together they had two children, Darrin and Kristi.
Delmer enjoyed cars his entire life, having street rods in his younger years that gave way to camping with his family, along with landscaping and mowing, as they built their family home in Kasson. He loved riding his Harley with Kim and his buddy, Tim, and traveling with family and friends.
Delmer worked at McNeilus Steel nearly 40 years and considered the people there very much part of his family. He enjoyed his work and was proud to be a part of all the growth and changes of McNeilus Steel through the years.
He will always be remembered by his family as a man of strength, integrity and never-ending love.
Delmer is survived by his wife, Kim of Kasson; children, Darrin (Tiah) Kiefer of St. Louis Park, and Kristi (Weston) Hanson of Hayfield; five grandchildren, Camilla and Matteo Kiefer, Taylor, Brynn and Lauren Hanson; his twin brother, Darrel (Joan Marie) Kiefer of Rochester; sisters, Sharon Narveson of Kasson, and Cheryl (Kevin) Hornberg of Bethany; and mother, Marion Kiefer of Dodge Center.
He is preceded in death by his loving father, Loren Kiefer.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 Seventh St. SE, Kasson and one hour before the service Friday at the church. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 Eighth Ave. NW, Kasson, with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating.
