Pearl Elaine Whipple, 92, of Utica, died Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse, Wis.

Pearl was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Wabasha County, to Joseph and Blanche (Morgan) Roland. She attended school at The Red School in rural Zumbro Falls and Rochester High School. She graduated from Miltonville Kansas Church School in Miltonville Kansas. She graduated from Teachers School and later taught school.

Pearl married Lloyd Whipple, and they farmed and raised their two children, Dennis and Diane, in the Zumbro Falls area. They raised livestock and had a dairy farm. She was a member of North American Lily Society and a hybridizer. She was a one time National Champion of Lily raiser. She was a member of South Troy Wesleyan Church. Pearl enjoyed a farmer’s life, growing flowers and gardening. She created beautiful flower cards.

Pearl is survived by her son, Dennis (JoeAnn) Whipple; daughter, Diane Whipple; one brother, Phillip Roland; two sisters, Della Fey and Ruth Sheets; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Whipple; her brother, Morgan Roland; sister, Ella Cotrone; and granddaughter, JeanAnn Whipple.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at South Troy Wesleyan Church, 56817 U.S. Highway 63, Zumbro Falls, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery.
