A celebration of life will be held for Rachel Alzamora at 11 a.m. July 27, at her home church of South Zumbro Lutheran, 4830 120th Ave. SW, Kasson, MN 55944.
Rachel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Oct. 30, 2018, after bravely fighting a lengthy battle with cancer.
Rachel Suzanne Evjen was born on July 29, 1946, to George Sr. and Mildred (Lien) Evjen. She grew up on the family farm south of Byron. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended school in Byron and Kasson and attended college in Waseca.
On May 7, 1966, she married the love her life, Daniel Alzamora, and they celebrated 52 years together. They had three sons and one daughter. They made their home in Arizona, where Rachel worked for Mayo Clinic for 28 years, until she retired in 2009. They lived in a couple of cities in Arizona, but their last home was the "Alzamora Ranch" in Maricopa, Ariz., which was their dream home.
Rachel's favorite pastime was spending time with her family, friends, and their dogs. She also loved traveling, cooking and photography.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel; three sons, Tony (Stacey) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jim (Anna) of Mantorville, and Paul (Joyce) of Queen Creek, Ariz.; one daughter, Mandy (Darin) Gore of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren (who lovingly called her Mima), Mark Cody, Carissa, Shea, Tiia, Caden, Ruby, and Gemma; one sister, Carie Rud of Rochester; and one sister-in-law, Dottie Evjen of Rochester. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, George Jr., Ole, Cleo, and Willis; and her sister, Elaine Ibach.
