The funeral for Robert Frederick "Bob" Jensen will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Dodge Center Seventh-day Adventist Church, 410 Third Ave. SW, Dodge Center, MN 55927, with Barry Mosier officiating. Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja.
Mr. Jensen, 74, of Byron, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. Bob was born April 3, 1945, in Rochester to Robert and Delores Sorenson Jensen.
Bob graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1963. He went on to automobile mechanics school in Austin. On Dec. 8, 1965, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged Sept. 13, 1967.
On Sept. 21, 1975, he married Darlene (Cheri) Chilson at Cheri's parents' (Budd and Darlene's) house. The couple lived in Dodge Center at Bob's parents' house until 1978, when they built and moved into their home in the Oxbow park area in Byron. Bob worked at Kasson-Mantorville Schools as a custodian for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Robert James Jensen of Byron, and Darlynn (Eric) Thiemann of Owatonna; two grandchildren, Annabelle Thiemann and Lance Thiemann of Owatonna; and sister, Patricia Alcott of Rochester. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bob loved anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing, canoeing, guns, knives, cars and telling stories. If you asked him, he'd always be happy to show you how to throw a tomahawk.
