Robert Linton "Bob" Haase, age 90, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Lake City on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019.
Born on April 7, 1929, in Wabasha to H. Linton Haase and Roseanna (Riester) Haase. Mr. Haase attended Mary E. McCahill Institute and Lincoln High School in Lake City. Mr. Haase served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He later attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.
He married Louise "Gert" (Schroeder) Chalmers in East Grand Forks. They made their home in Lake City. Mr. Haase worked for O'Neil Irwin Mfg., later DiAcro, for 16 years. He was one of the principal owners of IBP Equipment Corporation in Lake City and Wabasha.
Mr. Haase served on the Lake City - City Council for a number of years. He also served on many community boards. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. He was a member of the Lake City Fire Department, VFW, Sportsman's Club and "Idiots club" and was well known for his famous BBQ chicken. He and Gert loved to dance, play cards and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Thomas, daughter-in-law, Margaret, and grandchildren, Cody and Mike, of Lake City; and son, Brad of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; sisters, Mary (Millie) Cabaday of Summerfield, Fla., and Carole (Robert) Young of Peoria, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Mickie Schroeder of Clarion, Iowa; and brother-in-law, Michael Holmquist of Burnsville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Irene Greden, Bette Clare and Kris Holmquist.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 St. Mary of The Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, with Father Matt Fasnacht officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel.
