Steven R. Bengtson, 74, of Rochester, died June 11, 2019, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Steve was born Nov. 28, 1944, in Rochester, to Lee Roy and Delta Marie (Bradish) Bengtson. He married Diane Kay Born on June 19, 1965, at St. Francis in Rochester. Steve began working at age 15. He had a variety of jobs, including the construction of Madonna Towers and committing 33 years to welding at Crenlo.
He enjoyed everything about the outdoors, including camping, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle, and watching for wildlife. Steve’s eyes would twinkle and light up each time he cracked his mischievous smile. He loved his family and always shared that they were his proudest accomplishment in life.
Steve is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Tina (Butch) Bengtson and Troy (Kelly) Bengtson; grandchildren, Nicole, Olivia, Alexis, Ann (Jeremiah), and David; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Caleb, Roman, Aubrey and Noah. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Delta; mother-in-law, Marian; and father-in-law, Elmer; brothers, Charles, and William; and sister, Janet.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 14, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Woodward officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 28, at the American Legion in Eyota.
