He worked for IBM for 32 years from 1955 to 1987, as a Field Engineer. Tom volunteered for Pine Island Area Home Services from 2004 to 2018, driving people to and from medical appointments after being impressed by the organization's care during his wife's many years of illness.

Survivors include his four sons, Mark (Karen) Jeanson of Rochester, Michael (Elizabeth) Jeanson of Sioux Falls, S.D., David (Kathy) Jeanson of Pine Island, Daniel Jeanson of Hockley, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Tom enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader and Explorer Advisor, machining, welding and carving, water skiing, snow skiing and figure skating. He was the South Dakota State Figure Skating Champion sometime in the late '50s and later enjoyed teaching his grandkids to skate. He loved playing the piano, accordion, violin and harmonica. His talents were learned mostly by ear and his favorite music to listen to was classical.
