"They destroyed the whole family. They didn’t kill one person. They killed four people. They killed me and his children," says Hanadi Al Shaikhli on Friday afternoon near a makeshift memorial for her late husband, Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhussain Al Naddf, who was shot and killed Monday night in their northwest Rochester neighborhood. "I got married to the love of my life. I was the happiest person on earth until now. I used to say I’m his wife. But, in fact, I’m his widow now." The couple were married in 2005 in Iraq and moved to Rochester in 2014. Their children are 7 and 4 years old. "We, as a family, were his priority. He wanted to raise good kids, serve the community."

Free Cone Day Given the crowd, you’d think they were giving ice cream away for free Tuesday at Dairy Queen in Southeast Rochester. You’d be right. The fourth annual Free Cone Day celebrates the first day of spring and raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Emmylynn Krier, of Rochester, clearly enjoyed the event. Despite chilly temperatures, Rochester DQ owner Kari King said they’d served well over 2,000 small cones by late afternoon and were well on track to serve 3,500 by closing time.
